3. Proactive Substance Abuse Prevention Efforts & Planned Canine Searches

In our last community update, we highlighted our efforts to meet our highest priority: the safety and security of our students and staff members. One aspect of that work is our commitment to work with our local law enforcement and health department partners to proactively prevent substance abuse.

Earlier this month, our administrative team participated in opioid abuse prevention training with the Antioch Police Department, including provisioning both campuses with Naloxone to be prepared if we ever have a student, staff, or community member have a health crisis on campus.

We have also partnered with local law enforcement officials to coordinate a canine search at both campuses.  The purpose of these exercises is to ensure the building is a safe environment for student learning through the use of narcotics detection trained and certified police canines and their police handler.  The search teams will be accompanied by members of the ACHS and LCHS leadership teams. These searches will not be announced in advance and will take place during the school day. They will be carefully planned to limit the disruption to the normal class schedule.
