Resumes Being Accepted for BOE Vacancy

Community High School District 117 is accepting resumes to fill the vacancy resulting from the resignation of Ms. Linda Carroll. Ms. Carroll announced her resignation during the regular Board of Education meeting on March 19, 2026, due to personal commitments. Ms. Carroll has served on the Board since 2023, providing invaluable service to the students of ACHS and LCHS and the broader community. The Board appreciates her commitment to our students over the past 3 years, and we thanked her publicly for her service at the March 19, 2026, regular Board of Education Meeting. 

The individual selected to fill the vacancy will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment through April of 2027. 

Applicants for the Board vacancy must meet the qualifications for elected Board members listed in 105 ILCS 5/10-3 and 5/10-10 as follows: 

At a minimum, a candidate must meet the following qualifications: 

● Be a United States citizen 

● Be at least 18 years of age 

● Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment 

● Be a registered voter 

● Not be a child sex offender

● Not hold another incompatible public office 

● Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District 

● Not be a school trustee 

● Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment 

Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban.

After the Board reviews the resumes received, they will invite candidates to complete an application and interview process. The Board anticipates selecting a candidate for appointment in time for their appointment during a specially scheduled meeting in compliance with Illinois Association of School Board guidelines.
