Professional Development Program

The new collective bargaining agreement outlines ways in which teacher internal and external professional development can be applied towards lane change compensation.

District 117 sourced a new professional development system to track internal and external professional growth. Our human resource software company, Frontline (AESOP & Applitrack), also offers a professional development tool. This system allows District 117 to offer internal PD for staff and they can sign up for those opportunities. It also enables staff to sign up and budget for professional growth opportunities outside of our District.

The District 117 main office support staff has verified transcript records and sent this information to all staff for their own verification. The intent was for the District to pre-load all staff current transcript credits and current lane positions to create a baseline in MyLearningPlan. After July 1st of 2017, staff will be able to sign up for opportunities and gain lane change hours.

Staff were emailed their MyLearningPlan account information for the purpose of logging in for the first time and verifying their transcript info and their current lane assignment.

On February 27, 2017, district office admin (Ms. Nolde, Mr. Miles, and Dr. Hubbard) met to prepare presentation of My Learning Plan to staff, scheduled for Friday, March 3, 2017.

On March 3, 2017, Ms. Nolde, Mr. Miles, and Dr. Hubbard introduced My Learning Plan to staff during a session on Institute Day.

On August 10, 2017, Mr. Miles and Dr. Hubbard received 2-hours of training on My Learning Plan via a WebX meeting. After the training, MLP was formatted and configured to follow established approval processes and channels. Known in and out-of-district PD opportunities were loaded into the system.

On August 17, 2017, Dr. Hubbard sent a detailed email that included a refresher on My Learning Plan, in addition to, pertinent and important information for staff.

On August 31, 2017, Dr. Hubbard answered some frequently asked questions via an email to all CHSD117 staff.

On October 4, 2017 at LCHS and October 5, 2017 at ACHS, Dr. Hubbard, Mr. Miles, and Ms. Nolde held lunch-n-learns during all lunch periods. Teachers were taken through a brief PowerPoint (uploaded) and given an opportunity to have questions answered.

On November 7, 2017, all staff email sent out regarding MLP timelines, processes, protocols, and use.

Bi-Weekly, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and the two Assistant Principals for Curriculum and Instruction meet to discuss, approve, and/or deny professional development requests. All requests are made by staff members and initially approved by Department Chairs. Through the lens of the Strategic Plan, the named areas of PD focus, the CHSD117 PD budget, and other identified areas of need, PD requests are thoroughly vetted.
