What ‘Ignite passion and discovery in every student’ Means to Me
Ignite passion means a lot to me. I had great math and science teachers in high school that inspired me to achieve and achieve at a high level. They ignited a fire in me that that is still burning strong. That fire was fueled by others as I moved on through college and graduate school. As an engineer I was driven to tackle the hardest problems and take on any challenge. As a teacher I like to pass that flame along to my students. Not all of them take, but I put it out there for everyone.
A Teachable Moment
One of my favorite things about teaching physics is when I have the opportunity to relate my past experience as an engineer to something that comes up in a class discussion. I also love answering the question; "When will we ever use this?" with a practical application that relates to their lives.
