A Teachable Moment
In my first day of high school band, my band director asked our class to do something very simple: "Please raise your right hand in the air as high as you can." We all raised our hands in the air. He then said, "Raise your hand an inch higher," and our hands stretched higher. He had us put our hands down, and he asked us, "What were the instructions?" We all repeated the instructions back to him word for word. He then said, "Why didn't you do that the first time?!?" This moment was the beginning of an incredible musical journey, where I learned to always push myself to do my best and constantly strive for perfection in all aspects of life.
What ‘Ignite passion and discovery in every student’ Means to Me
The statement "Ignite Passion and Discovery in Every Student" embodies everything that we do in the Music Department. As a music teacher, my goal is give students the best possible musical and non-musical experience as I can, ultimately guiding students in developing their own musicianship, self-expression, and passion for music.
