Picture of Governor Pritzker Announcing New Mask Guidelines for Schools

Illinois Governor Pritzker announced today that he is issuing a face mask mandate for all schools.  Therefore, the District will require all students, staff, and visitors to wear a face-covering while in District 117 buildings and on school buses. In many cases, adhering to the guidance allows staff and students the opportunity to remain in school even in a close contact situation. The District’s goal is to provide high-quality in-person education for the entire school year with as few disruptions as possible.

The District remains committed to phasing in a face mask option for all students as conditions warrant.  As the transmission hopefully declines and the vaccination rate rises, we will have more options for facial coverings. Some of the recent changes may require adjustments to the District learning plan.  The focus for the 2021-22 school year continues to be on teaching, learning, and fostering relationships with students.

The District looks forward to a great school year.   Families will receive more school-specific information in the coming days.  Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim McKay

Superintendent
