EXPLANATION OF ACTIONS

Applitrack (web platform) used to solicit, collect, organize, and annotate applicants for open positions within CHSD117.

Gallup's TeacherInsight assessment used to screen candidates for all certified positions.

Comprehensive, in-depth interview process for all vacancies. Multiple stakeholders groups for open administrative positions. Practice/sample lesson taught as part of many teaching vacancy interviews.

Annually, CHSD117 holds 3-days of New Teacher Orientation. A sample schedule for the 3-days has been uploaded.

All 1st and 2nd year teachers are assigned a mentor. They meet during new teacher orientation and are given some time on one of those days to become acquainted. Throughout the year, four teacher leaders hold monthly new teacher meetings. They create the agenda and run the meetings on topics from professional development, to grading, to parent-teacher conferences, to the evaluation process. Ongoing, mentors meet with, observe, are observed by, and work to support their mentee(s).

All CHSD117 certified staff members are CRISS trained during their 2nd year in the district.

5-Year collective bargaining agreement (2017-2022) contains new salary schedule.
