  • What ‘Ignite passion and discovery in every student’ Means to Me

When students are working with the novels or papers, it is important that they are engaged and excited to discover more about what they are reading. As a teacher, my role is to help students find and ignite their own passion and to help them on the path to discovery.

  • A Teachable Moment

While in high school, I was reading "In the Lake of the Woods" and the class had a trial at the end of the semester to defend our hypothesis of what happened. I will always remember this trial as one of the most heated debates I had been a part of in school. Between the preparation and the actual debate, voices were raised, books were fervently being searched for quotes, and (as we didn't have smart phones) we had to be prepared for all possible outcomes. My group won the debate and I remember feeling such a sense of accomplishment when walking out of class that day.
