  • What ‘Ignite passion and discovery in every student’ Means to Me

Part of the reason I got into education was to help inspire a passion for learning in my students. As teachers, we have an amazing opportunity to teach future generations different ways to think and learn. It is a wonderful feeling when a student comes rushing into the classroom to share something they learned the night before that connects to class or a plot twist they did not see coming in a book they are reading.

  • A Teachable Moment

I was very fortunate to have some inspiring teachers when I was in high school. I had an AP Biology teacher that traveled to the Galapagos Islands and worked with endangered species during his summers. I had a Honors English teacher who instilled the importance of writing in his students through daily journals because he taught college composition courses during his summers. I also had a Spanish IV teacher that traveled to Spanish speaking countries and told us of his adventures, in Spanish, of course. The point is, my teachers lived their content. They loved what they did and they brought that passion for their subject to their classroom. I hope that I can also be that kind of example for my students.
