As a teacher, one of our goals is for students to ask questions, think about what is being taught in the lesson and explore topics further. If educators are able to excite students to critically think about the world around them and want to learn, we have done our job well! A Teachable Moment There are many teachable moments in anyone's life. They are not always going to be huge momentous occasions, but all are worthwhile and important. I remember one night I was practicing with my son his math facts. His teacher wanted them to focus on speed and accuracy in one minute increments. He was getting very upset with the mistakes he was making but persevered through his frustration. After completing several practice worksheets, he was able to see his math score steadily improve. It was a great moment to explain to him that practicing anything in life will help achieve success.
