At this point in their lives they can achieve their highest dreams, but sometimes they aren't sure what that dream is. I think as an educator, it is key to be able to inspire students to find their passions and to do something with them! It is important to allow students to branch out and try new things, until they find that one thing that intrigues them or gives them a purpose. I believe that mission statement is a great one and that it embodies how we approach learning and the classroom experience. A Teachable Moment Coming from a family of teachers I have always valued education. I also grew up with the notion that teaching is a great job! I had always known that teaching was the career for me, I even used to teach my stuffed animals and dolls when I was little. Even completing their "homework" and "grading" it myself. What really inspired me however, were my high school social studies teachers. Especially Mr. Mitchell, my AP U.S History teacher at ZBTHS. He definitely went above and beyond for his students and instilled and solidified a passion in me for learning, working hard, and for history and the social sciences. I can only hope that I will make similar impacts on my students that he did with me, and many others.
