Posted: May, 26, 2017 - 12:29pm Spring Sports Round-Up The Eagles had much to celebrate at the conclusion of the spring sports season. For one, the varsity boys volleyball team took first place in the first year of the NLCC. They finished the regular season with a 10-0 record. No. 1 doubles tennis team Jackson Hubert and Jake Gotlib placed 4th at sectionals on their home court to qualify for State, which took place May 25. They competed at Palatine High School but lost both rounds. Three varsity girls track runners qualified for the state meet, which took place at Eastern Illinois University on May 19-20. Taylor Tilmon accomplished a rare feat, qualifying in the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter runs. Toyin Jackson qualified for state for the second time, this time in the long jump event. Olivia Schmitt, a freshman, broke her personal record in the 800-meter run by seven seconds to qualify in that event. Read the full write-up here. The varsity boys track team qualified three athletes, Nick Garcia for pole vault, Jeffrey Milostan for the 400-meter run, and Cameron Ruiz in long jump and triple jump. Together, they took 16th place at the State meet in Evanston from May 26-27. Ruiz was an eight-time All-State runner. He is a three-time state champion and took the IHSA State record this year in triple jump. Read the complete write-up here. The baseball team was Regional champs but lost in the first round of Sectionals against Grayslake Central. Softball won their first game in Regionals, which was hosted by Lakes. They lost their second round against Richmond Burton.
