Back to School Information

Lakes is excited to welcome back students on Wednesday, August 16 (freshmen only) and Thursday, August 17 (all students). Families will be receiving an informational mailing soon, if they have not already. In case you missed it and/or need extra copies, here’s everything you need:

NEW! Medical Compliance Deadline

The annual Medical Compliance deadline is August 17, 2017. The first day for FRESHMAN compliance is Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Freshman must have a completed physical exam on the DHS State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination Form; this is the only acceptable form. All required immunizations must be up to date and documented. Seniors must have two does of the meningococcal vaccine. Only one dose is required if the first dose was received at 16 years or older. New students who transfer from a school within Illinois are required to provide of copy of their ninth grade or current physical with all required immunizations.

- Monday, August 7 - Football and golf begin
- Tuesday, August 8 - Freshman Orientation, 7:30-11:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, August 8 - Materials distribution (textbooks, IDs, etc.) for sophomores through seniors, 1-5 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 8 - Freshman Parent Meeting, 6:30-8:30 p.m., auditorium
- Wednesday, August 9 - All other fall sports begin
- Thursday, August 10 - Materials distribution (textbooks, IDs, etc.) for sophomores through seniors, 3-7 p.m.
- Monday, August 14 - Athletic Information Night, 7 p.m., main gym
- Wednesday, August 16 - First day of school for freshmen, 7:30-11:30 a.m.
- Thursday, August 17 - First day of school for all students, 7:30 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
- Friday, August 18 - Athletics and Activities Kick-off, 5 p.m.
- Friday, August 18 - Back to School Dance, 7:30 p.m.
- Monday, August 21 - Monday late start, 8:55 a.m.
- Thursday, August 24 - Back to School Night, 6:30 p.m.

Athletics and Activities Information

View information about Lakes athletics and activities on our website at lakescommunityhs.rschoolteams.com. Please refer to the Fall Athletic Information document for information about registering your student-athlete for a fall sport and more.

All student-athletes, parents/guardians, and coaches from all fall, winter, and spring sports should plan to attend Athletic Information Night on August 14 at 7 p.m. in the main gym. Athletic Director Kurt Rowells will cover vital information: academic standards, extra-curricular code, program expectations, the 12-sport athlete award, and what it takes to be a successful student-athlete. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend if they have a student participating IN ANY SPORT at Lakes. Following the meeting, Fall Sports will hold their program-specific parent meetings in various locations throughout the school.

  • Art students return from Italy

    Twenty-three students visited Rome, Capri, Sorrento, Pompei, Assisi, Florence, Lucca, and Venice to explore Italy’s history, art, architecture, and culture.

    FCCLA sewed blankets for residents of the Village of Victory Lakes.

  • Safety is a team effort

    Lakes hosted approximately 20 officials from District 117 and local law enforcement and fire agencies on Thursday, May 25 for a discussion about the many facets of the school’s safety plan.

  • Spring Sports Round-Up

    Girls and boys track athletes and the No. 1 doubles tennis team competed at State, and the boys volleyball team took first place in the NLCC.
