Making water work in Lindenhurst

Environmental Science students in Dave Auston’s classes heard from Lindenhurst officials on Friday about their work to better meet the community’s water needs. Lindenhurst and Lake Villa have been working on a plan to transition from a well supply to Lake Michigan water. Lindenhurst anticipates that its residents will begin using Lake Michigan water at the end of the year; Lake Villa will follow in mid-2018. Additionally, the guest speakers addressed economic development in the area and the work that goes into determining the environmental impacts of those developments. Speakers included Lindenhurst Village Administrator Matt Formica and trustees Tracy McGrath and Dawn Suchy.
