Andrew Ehrhardt Teacher 847-395-9949 email@example.com Notes What ‘Ignite passion and discovery in every student’ Means to Me To "Ignite Passion and Discovery in Every Student" means that it is part of my responsibility as an educator of these outstanding youth to help them realize what they hunger for. Although my students may not always be passionate about the class that I teach or the content area that I know and love, I want to make it my business to know what my students care about, know who they are as individuals, and know what I can do to help them through their high school experience. By the time my students walk out of the doors as graduates four short years after entering them, I hope that I will be able to say that I did everything in my power to help them learn about themselves and what they want to achieve and accomplish in their lives. A Teachable Moment When I was in junior high, I thought that I wanted to be an architect. I was given an opportunity to interview the head architect of the renovations at Soldier Field through a semester-long project called "Discover Chicago." In meeting with this individual and seeing what he had to endure throughout his professional life to reach this point, including many additional years and money spent towards his education and spending months at a time away from his family and friends, I quickly realized that this was not my life's path. Although this may be the right career choice for some and I truly value the architectural giants of this world, I am thankful that I had the opportunity to discover early on that this was not what I was destined to do. What I was destined to do was to teach. And I hope that as a teacher of the best students at ACHS, I will be able to play a small role in helping each one to find out where their life's path might (and even might not) take them.
