Principal recognizes two exceptional seniors

Seniors Adam Recker and Chahna Saraiya attended the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Breakfast with Principal Dave Newberry on April 18. The two were selected for the honor by the Lakes administrative team for their involvement in and outside of the classroom.

In his recognition letter, Newberry said Recker is “the epitome of high standards at Lakes Community High School.” Recker has maintained a high GPA after taking a rigorous course load, and he has participated in football, track, volleyball, and National Honor Society. He also is involved with an organization called Troop Dreams, which raises money for military families, and his church youth ministry. Recker plans to study theology and engineering in college.

As for Saraiya, Newberry referred to her as an “empathetic and caring young adult” with an interest in studying medicine in college. Like Recker, Chahna has enrolled in many honors and AP courses and has maintained a GPA toward the top of her class. She is highly involved at Lakes; for instance, she competes on the tennis team, and she participates in Student Council and Scholastic Bowl. She also plays the piano.
