Solar Eclipse

Antioch Community High School

For the eclipse assembly on Monday, the glasses we are using were purchased through the American Paper Optics company, which was suggested by NASA.  They come with the ISO stamp and meet the transmission requirement for direct sun observation.

As a staff, we will be extremely vigilant about wearing and reminding others to wear the glasses while looking at the sun.  Direct sun viewing can quickly cause permanent damage to the eye.  As a result, we will continually remind students they need to wear the glasses while looking directly at the sun. The risk comes from the sun not being nearly as bright which can result in people staring longer periods of time (hence the danger).
