PSAT Day

Antioch Community High School

Dear Sequoits:
Our ACHS freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will be testing on October 11, 2017. All freshmen students will be taking the PSAT 9 and all sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT exams are part of a series of nationally-normed assessments that culminates with the SAT test.  The SAT is required of all juniors in the state of Illinois and will be administered in April.  It is also an entrance requirement for many colleges/universities. We are confident that this information will provide a complete set of longitudinal data for the district to measure student growth and assess its curriculum. The results from these assessments will also help the district better prepare students for the SAT.
All testing will conclude at approximately 11 a.m. After testing, students will follow a rotation in which they will be exposed to important Naviance information, class meetings, and complete surveys. The final hour of the day, we will have a speaker address our students. Mr. Bill Coon will provide a presentation on growth mindset, overcoming adversity, and creating connections.

In preparation for the exam, we ask that your child get a good night’s sleep, eats a good breakfast, and brings the proper materials with him/her that day. Students should bring #2 pencils (not mechanical), a calculator, and a school ID. The locations of each student’s testing room can be located in the Commons prior to testing day.

Food, drinks, cell phones/electronic devices, school bags and reading materials will not be allowed in the testing rooms.

For SENIORS: For this day, students can bring a parent/guardian signed form indicating they will be visiting a college campus, completing volunteer hours, etc. These forms were distributed during English classes. If this scenario applies to your child, please complete the form and return it to the Student Services office by October 5, 2017. If a form in not received, it will be considered an unexcused absence.

If you have any questions about the testing day, please feel free to contact ACHS administration.

Thank you,

Ms. Aryan Haren
Assistant Principal of C & I
